How To Create A Facebook Page Reveal Tab

When it comes to Facebook marketing, nothing helps your fan page go viral like a highly effective reveal tab. Reveal tabs are a way to get Facebook users over the hump of “liking” your Page. Not only do you need to tell the user to like your page but you also need to tell them why they should be liking it. The greater the incentive, the greater the conversion.

A reveal tab is a great way to convince users to click “Like”. Rather than just asking them to perform the action, you give them a reason to complete this step. It may be a video, a free report they can download, or I dunno, a free WordPress Plugin. Combined with Facebook Ad campaigns, reveal tabs can be priceless.

When that user likes your page, not only does that action show up in their newsfeed for their friends and family to see (driving more potential fans your way), it also allows you to update them on whats’ going on when you post to your page’s wall. Think of it like a newsletter system.

Fanpage Connect makes creating Facebook reveal tabs in WordPress incredibly easy. In fact, it takes just two simple shortcodes. If you don’t know what WordPress shortcodes are, they’re basically little pieces of code that you can enter to perform “macros” or generate content inside your page. How to Create The “NotLiked” Content

Your “notliked” content is what new users will see when they visit your new, shiny fan page. So it stands to reason that you really want those users to “like” your page so you can gain another loyal fan.

Your “notliked” content should entice your new visitor to like the page – so be creative. For example, check out the Fanpage Connect fan page demo. While you may not go for something as loud, you sure do want to click the like button, right?

So let’s create the “notliked” content.

  1. In your editor, make sure you set the Make this page a FanPage option to Yes and make the appropriate changes to the Fanpage Connect settings.
  2. In either the Visual or HTML editor, enter the shortcode: [fbnotliked]
  3. Then enter whatever content, video, or graphics you want new visitors to see.
  4. To denote the end of the “notliked” content, you’ll need to enter the closing shortcode: [/fbnotliked]

So here’s an example:

Now what’s so cool about Fanpage Connect is that you can have your “notliked” and “liked” content on the same page – there’s no need to create a separate page for each set of content! Let’s look at creating the “liked” content…

How to Create The “Liked” Content

When your visitor lands on your fan page for the first time and hasn’t liked it, they’ll see the “notliked” content. But with your clever marketing wizardy, you’ve convinced them to click the all powerful “Like” button. When that happens, Facebook reloads your iFrame and sends the like status to your page.

This is where we display the revealed content with one more shortcode.

  1. In either the Visual or HTML editor, enter the shortcode: [fbliked]
  2. Then enter whatever content, video, or graphics you want your new Facebook fan to see.
  3. To denote the end of the “liked” content, you’ll need to enter the closing shortcode: [/fbliked]

Example:

[fbliked] Thanks for liking us! To show our appreciation, here’s your free report. And oh, sign up for our newsletter below! [/fbliked]

Example of NotLiked and Liked Content on One Page

[fbliked] Thanks for liking us! To show our appreciation, here’s your free report. And oh, sign up for our newsletter below! [/fbliked]

Also note that you can put any content on the fan page outside these shortcodes, and it will always be displayed.
